E’ difficile dire chi io sia dopo tutto ciò che ho passato… La vita ha trasformato più volte chi ero e continuerà a cambiarmi per il resto del tempo che mi sarà concesso. Anagraficamente parlando, sono nata all’Ospedale Civile di Venezia l’11 Febbraio 1973. Era una fredda domenica invernale e mia mamma mi ha dato alla luce dopo quattro giorni di un travaglio che ci ha quasi uccise… Forse la mia vita è stata già complicata dall’inizio. Sono  nata cianotica perché mi ostinavo a voler uscire porgendo la spalla al mondo e i medici alla fine mi hanno dovuta tirare fuori con il forcipe che mi ha fatta sembrare un mostriciattolo agli occhi di mio papà. Poi però sono diventata un fiore!!! I primi quaranta giorni li abbiamo passati a casa di nonna Maria perché mamma non riusciva ad accudirmi per gli innumerevoli punti che le avevano dato, per vari ascessi e le mastiti (colpa mia perché avevo la boccuccia piccola!). Non ricordo, come penso sia normale, i primi anni di vita… solo le foto possono colmare tali vuoti. Mamma e papà dicono che mangiavo e dormivo e il mio essere paffutella ne era la prova più tangibile. Ero diventata la cocca di papà. Nelle foto sembro una bambolina!!! Il 10 settembre 1974 nacque mio fratello Manuel, per fortuna in maniera meno traumatica, anzi quasi perso per via per il terrore di mia mamma di soffrire come alla mia nascita. Mi piaceva prendermi cura di lui anche se crescendo poi siamo diventati i classici fratelli “cane e gatto”. Abbiamo frequentato l’asilo insieme perché non voleva stare solo e perché già si intuiva che la scuola non sarebbe mai stata una sua priorità. Io invece adoravo i miei quaderni e appena presa la penna in mano ho iniziato a scrivere e copiare le parole. Ho iniziato a leggere prestissimo e imparavo leggendo le insegne delle botteghe o il nome delle vie che percorrevo. E il primo giorno delle elementari è stato il primo dei tanti anni passati a studiare. Quella mattina, il mio incedere tutta orgogliosa e impettita con grembiule nero, codini e cartella nuova in spalla ha dato inizio alla mia vita fra i banchi.
